GROWING MICROGREENS

What are Microgreens?

Microgreens are just miniature plants of greens, herbs and other vegetables.  Because of their young age at harvest (7 to 10 days) they are a concentrated nutrient source and packed with beneficial enzymes.

Microgreens are simple to grow indoors since they are ready for harvest in just 7 to 10 days, leaving not enough time for the grower to mess things up.  When the microgreens are ready for harvest a simple hair cut with scissors down to 1/4 inch from the soil is all it takes.

The most common plants used as microgreens are:  Lettuce, kale, spinach, wheat grass, watercress, chia, herbs, radish and sunflower.

Supplies you will need are:  Seed tray, seed starting soil, heat mat, seed starting fertilizer and possibly a grow light depending on growing conditions.
